Minnie Mouse, Mickeys Girlfriend !

Just as our favorite mouse, Mickey Mouse was born in 1928 in his debut of Steamboat Willie, Minnie Mouse also came to life and appeared with him. She has appeared in around 73 cartoons with Mickey Mouse and Pluto since 1928 and can now be watched on the Disney Channel in 'House of Mouse.'

Her real name is Minerva "Minnie" Mouse. Her parents are Marcus and Margie Mouse. Her parents were introduced in the comic strip 'Mr Slicker and the Egg Robbers.' They were both farmers. You can see pictures of her grandparents Marshall and Matilda Mouse on the wall in the background.

Her other more well known relatives include her Uncle Mortimer Mouse and her twin nieces, Millie and Melody Mouse. Mini Mouse is chiefly portrayed as Mickey Mouse's girlfriend and the best friend of Daisy Duck.

Minnie Mouse loves wearing the color red and she is particularly known for her oversized high heeled pumps, which she often walks right out of. She started off by looking considerably like a flapper type of girl, and her knickers with a patch showed all the time, but as the years drew on she became more conservative in her dress sense.

Minnie appeared in many cartoons alongside Mickey during the late 1920's and early 1930's. She took a bit of a back seat to Donald Duck and Goofy in the late 1930's.

Minnie's popularity polls still run a close second to Mickey Mouse. In fact, 1986 was made Minnie's Year at the Disney theme parks. In the course of that year, she was much better known, and eventually got the recognition she had waited for for so long.

Quite a number of ladies have done Minnie Mouse's voice over the years. At the outset, Marcel Lite Garner did Minnie's voice. The next Minnie Mouse voice was Thelma Boardman from 1940-1942 and Ruth Clifford 1942-1952. The ladies all came from Disney's ink and paint department at the Disney Studio. Finally in 1986, Russi Taylor became the voice of Minnie Mouse and still does it to date.

Over the years we have seen Mickey Mouse and Mortimer Mouse vie for Minnie's affections. As with all the happy endings, Mickey Mouse continually wins Minnie's heart. The rivalry between the two first began in the cartoon Mickey's Rival.

Minnie starred in Totally Minnie in 1988. This was a musical TV special with Suzanne Sommers as the host and guest appearances by Mickey Mouse, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. In this TV show, Minnie sang a duet with Elton John and the song was "Don't Go Breakin My Heart". She also taught Robert Carradine, who played a nerd, how to be accepted and cool on the "Minnie Mouse Center for the Totally Un-hip." This television show was Minnie's very first starring role.

Minnie Mouse is also known worldwide and is a prominent figure in the Disney theme parks. She is often seen with Mickey Mouse and everyone loves to pose with this couple for photographs, while paying a visit to a Disney park.

Let Disney bring out the child in you again!
